This is just a preliminary page for the country of China and does not include cats. We have done this page for those who are not readers and did not want to present anything on books, etc. China is a huge country with lots of different facets. These are just a few. We did this page a long time for another activity and decided to use it this month as a means for members to earn points. |
The Pekingese was held sacred in China in ancient times, the land of its origin. They were bred and preserved at the Imperial Palace for centuries. It is a dignified little dog who can sometimes be stubborn.
The Pekingese has long, straight, thick profuse coats which requires regular brushing to prevent knots and mats from forming.
The Pekingese is a good dog for a small city apartment, but will be just as happy in a rural setting.
The Chinese Shar Pei was only recently saved from extinction. The name "Shar-Pei" literally means "sand-skin". The Chinese Shar-Pei is regal, alert, intelligent, and dignified. He may appear independent, snobbish, and standoffish with strangers but is extremely devoted to his family. The Chinese Shar-Pei has been described as "people dogs," preferring the companionship of humans to that of other dogs. |
