Hi! As you may have read on other pages, I took in a pregnant mother who also happens to be
the younger sibling of Kitana & Kahn. Well, we can't have a cat site without at least a few kittens
on it, now can we? LOL Though I had to give them up, they deserve their place among the Herd.
All went to (in my vet's words) superior homes and are growing up to be as beautiful as any other
member of this particular family group! :-)
One I get to see as often as I like as my dad allowed me to give Dion to my mom for Mother's Day! :-)
We think he might just be growing up as a Kahn wannabe size-wise, too! :-) Without further ado, let's
meet the kittens! :-)
Nala couldn't be bothered to do things normally! lol She had Kinsey & Dion first on Jan. 31st
of this year (2001). They were born in the wee morning hours. Nala waited another 12 hours to give
birth to Mirage, Charisma and Nova on Feb. 1st! This is in their order of birth, by the way! :-) My local
vet even loaned a large cage to me so that Nala would be able to give birth in peace and have a refuge
while she & rest of the Herd became used to each other!
The kittens' Uncle Kahn stayed close to Nala and the kittens throughout the kittens' time
here! :-) He mothered them almost as well as Nala did! LOL Poor Kahn didn't know his
own strength, though and a few times I had to intervene. Kahn wasn't mean at any time
but he was poking a paw through the bars of the cage before they were able to walk well,
trying to pat them. Their little heads would bob with every pat and they usually ended up toppling
over. He learned to reign in his strength eventually and became their "Dutch Uncle" in every
way possible.....
Is there no such thing as time alone? You really don't want to know what
Kahn's doing, do you? Ewww! lol
At first, the Herd wasn't at all happy about this latest "intrusion!" lol They were ok while
the babies were too young to come out of the cage and even when I'd put them on the blanket
in the middle of the living room floor while they were still todding. Most of what they showed
at first was a mild curiosity...
1, 2, 3, 4, 5.....6 toes? There's nothing back there for you...
Hey, big boy! Yer at the wrong end!
When the babies were really on the move, most of the Herd was much less than pleased!
It took a while before they realized that the babies were harmless and could also be a lot of
fun! :-) Hazy & Shades were the last to be won over but eventually, even they succombed to
the babies' considerable charm! LOL
Cuddling with Aunt Kitana When Hazy & Shades give in....Suckers! LOL
Sadly, the time came when I had to take them to my vet to be placed for homes. I bawled like any big
baby, too! I'd had so much fun, watching them grow, playing with them and generally socializing
them in preparation for their new homes! I'd forgotten how much fun it can be to have kittens in the
house! They all grew up to be wonderfully loving and full of fun! :-) These are among the last pictures
to be taken before I left with them. Unfortunately, a couple aren't very good but I did what I could
with them....
Kinsey Charisma & Mirage
Nova
...and last but not least, Dion. He'll have his own page soon but this will give you a chance to
see him at an older age. In fact, I didn't have much time to say good-bye as my dad called
wanting to know if I'd still kept a baby for Mom. He said they'd be here later that evening to
pick him up! :-( I can at least still go see the little goober anytime I like and I can't wait to
show you his progression of growth! :-)
Speaking of suckers, my dad consented Dion didn't know what was coming but Nala did! LOL
to hold the babies for a picture. Notice This will give you an idea of how gaunt Nala was
the sappy expression...lol when she first arrived. If you haven't yet, check
Nala out now! :-)
The promise of more beauty to come....Dion at 10 weeks
A kitten's natural curiosity can get them into trouble! Be sure to keep
harmful objects out of their reach while they explore their new home! :-)
