Advantest America Inc.
Director of Business Technologies

My role at Advantest started off with the responsibility to manage the Applications Support Group. In 2003, I was promoted to be the Manager of Business Technologies and later (in 2007) to be Director of Business Technologies. My charter is to manage a team (of 12 professionals) so that information technology tools could be brought to bear in the best possible manner so as to enable and empower employees to be as productive / profitable as possible.

This includes infrastructure systems such as network, e-mail, SAN as well as application systems such as ERP, CRM, Intranet and extranet. One of my major achievements at Advantest was to formulate an e-Business strategy and oversee its deployment across the company in the US, and also expanding its adoption across other Advantest subsidiaries in Europe and Asia. This task was not merely about implementing technology but re-orienting company culture so that the benefits of e-Business could be accrued.

The audience for this was not just US employees and US customers but world-wide including the corporate parent in Japan. I was called upon to introduce a change and oversee its adoption across the company.

  • Managed the ongoing maintenance and support activities of applications within the company.
  • Devised the E-business strategy and managed it from the stage of conceptualization to right upto company-wide adoption.
  • Managed the Corporate Intranet
  • Planned and managed the selection and roll-out of applications to various target groups groups within the company.
  • Introduced and adopted open-source technologies and methodologies so as to extract the most optimal ROI.
  • Developed high-level technology roadmaps to communicate goals and plans to Senior Management.
  • Developed detailed plans for workstation, network and application security to protect company assets.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and mentorship to team members and make them successful

XpenseTracker.com
Founder and  primary architect.

XpenseTracker.com started as a hobby project which I conceived and designed. It was built and deployed along with a partner and has been in operation since May 2000. It has gained wide popularity and has received reasonable acclaim since its inception  and subsequent evolution. It was adjudged an Incredibly Useful Site by Yahoo Internet Life and it is the recepient of the Golden Web Award.

XpenseTracker.com continues to be a popular web-based tool that is in operation today and is widely used by students, roommates, families and individuals. It is also generating enough revenue to sustain itself without additional funding from me.

TransactionExchange.com
Founder and  primary architect.

TransactionExchange.com is a zero-capital EDI solution offered on a Software-as-a-Service model. Organizations do not need to make up-front EDI investments in hardware or software. They simply use it as needed and pay as used.

With TransactionExchange.com, large organizations can augment their EDI infrastructure and thus expand their EDI-footprint to 100%. Small or mid-sized organizations can become EDI enabled using less onerous web-based edi mechanisms.

TransactionExchange.com started off as an idea scribbled onto a white-board while a long-running program was executing. From that early concept to a tangible product was a journey of 3 years before presenting it to potential customers.
