Wishbone

This is Wishbone our neutered family pet . Wishbone was our first Boxer & he found my husband(Rob) about 4 & 1/2yrs. ago , Wishbone was the turning point in our life & there began our life & love with Boxers.

After laying down our German Shepard with hip dysplasia in 1995 we moved back here to the Dallas area & had discussed getting a Boxer for the kid's as a pet (we had a friend with a plain brindle Boxer that we just loved), in walked Rob with this 9mo.old 60lbs. white Boxer(he was still squatting to pee) grinning ear to ear , I stood there looking at these two happier than pigs in **** & Rob asking me "Can we keep him?"

I told Rob he wasnt quite what I was thinking of & "are you sure he's ok around the kid's ?" (he was quite intimidating looking)as I looked out in the yard he has my mop running up & down the fence line with it hanging out of his mouth dropping it long enough to growl & bark at every car & person he sees near my house .

Well to say the least Wishbone stayed & won my heart & soul.Even though he is white & we have suffered ridicule with the professionals , I look at it like this, we all started our love for this breed somewhere & my'n just so happened started with a "white" Boxer , because of him I have become an active member in this wonderfull Boxer community with AKC confirmation showing & getting involved in Boxer Rescue , not to mention having this guy in my life that has been the most wonderful , loyal friend to me. I love him & he loves me & he could care less what color I am or what I look like he would lay his life down for me & my family & I think that makes him A-ok with me !

Boxer Rescue is an organization that finds homes for Boxers who's home has basically disapeared due to all sorts of reasons , couples divorce or they have children & no longer have room for the dog ,moving , or just for the simple fact they find out Boxers are not the breed for them .

As with all pure breed rescue's we know we cant save them all(we would like too)so we start with our own breed , it's only a small dent in this over-populated animal world but it's a start.

Rescue doesnt get many puppies , they are cute & very forgivable as puppies but they dont stay puppies for long & arnt so cute & forgivable once they get big , thats usually when rescue's get called upon.

Rescue dog's make wonderful pets & are truly gratefull to the owners who give them good homes with love (they really do know what you do for them). So if you are looking for a pet I urge everyone to try a rescue or a mixed breed (the pounds are full of them!).

If you still insist on buying a pure breed puppy please make sure you buy from a reputable breeder , check with your local breed clubs (American Kennel Club can direct you),or a pure breed rescue organization , they are usually up on the reputable & non-reputable breeders in your area , let's not give these back-yard-breeders any more reason to breed for them to make a quick buck .

I have provided links below to better explain Boxer & pure breed rescue's & am here to help anyone with any questions or help I can offer , please feel free to contact me.

Hear our prayer O Lord ... for animals that are overworked, underfed, and cruelly treated;

for all wistful creatures in captivity that beat their wings against bars;

for any that are hunted or lost or deserted or frightened or hungry;

for all that must be put to death.... And for those who deal with them we ask a heart of compassion and gentle hands and kindly words.

~ Albert Schweitzer ~

"If you have men who will exclude any of God's creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men."

~ St. Francis of Assisi

White Boxers

I would like to take this time to offer a little info on white Boxers.These dogs are not rare,but breeders often cull them at birth, therefor is why they may not be seen as often.The White issue is a very touchy subject among breeders & can tell you in my 4yrs. of being involved in Boxers I have never seen the topic go anywhere.These color dogs are not AKC standard for the Boxer breed & do have a chance of being deaf,so with this in mind white Boxers should never be bred!These dogs do exsist though, & many are in our rescue programs, but other than their color they are still all Boxer & need homes & love the same as any color & make wonderful pets! ABC ( American Boxer club )that many proffesional breeders belong to are not allowed to sell these dogs for a profit due to the fact it would encourge breeders to supply the demand for these dog's , therefore puts these breeders in a position of finding a good home for a free puppy , when this happens not so good dog owners come out of the wood work to obtain these dog's , thus they many times end up in rescue or pounds when they arnt puppies anymore , or use them in theire back yard breeding program , which is another reason breeders will cull them. Rescue programs have a hard time adopting out adult white Boxers , for some reason the majority of adopters only want colored adults , if we do not stop this stigma of whites , & educate people on them , the culling wont stop & the whites will stay homeless. Please I urge you again think about a white boxer adult to adopt , they need you ! I have provided informational links about the genitic make-up & reasons why whites should never be bred!I hope these links are benificial in explaining & offer fairness in why breedres cull these dogs,it is a very personal decision & should be respected for whatever personal ethics that person has.

Thinking of breeding your dog?

The Reality of Breeding Dogs

Ok, so your back & still want to breed . First off there is to much emphasis on spay/neuter I believe, I think more should be put on the breeder of pure breeds & buying from a reputable breeder. First off it makes much more sense to try to develope the most valuable animal you can , whether it's a show dog , a field trial dog, a superior coonhound or an excelent and dependable livestock dog. The overhead or basic expenses , involved in producing a pet puppy is just the same as that for a nice show puppy or quality pet(of course were talking about a reputable human being who tests their stock) , & think of the deep - bone satisfaction of having produced quality animals like these. Why settle for turning out batch after batch of mediocre puppies , which the world most emphatically does not need , when with a little more initial investment and more study of your effort you could become a respected figure in your breed , the producer of a bloodline to be proud of? Believe me once you put that effort into breeding you will carefully screen your homes to make sure your lines stay clean & respectable & the fate of your off-springs will mean a great deal to you , rather than them ending up in rescue or the pound , or someone's back yard chained to a tree producing in filthy conditions with no thought or breeding to the standard , running your kennel name down . As a breeder it is your right to mark that space on your registration paper before selling a puppy as "limited registration" ,that means no puppies produced from that dog can be registered (male or female), it's your right , it's there for the breeder, use it! Now if you still insist on breeding using less than quality stock, mindless to breed to the standard of your breed , then you wont mind being put in the "Back - yard - breeder" catagory ,& I can guarranty you this , I will see your off-springs in our rescue program(even if you just stud out your dog your name will be trashed as well as the owner of the female) , may be a few years but I will see them & I would like to say this , I dont appriciate having to clean up your mess!, but as a responsible breeder I owe it to my breed to not let their fate end tragically (do you care ).If I sound harsh I'm sorry ,but if you think you dont have the time or money to invest in quality stock & test & research your dog's lines then dont do it (we truly do not need your batch of poor quality dog's ,our pounds & rescue programs are full of them!), please leave it to the professionals who have the knowledge & skills to do these important things , if you love your breed protect it, dont ruin it. People seem to get very offensive when they are told by a professional breeder that their dog is not show or breeding quality , that does not mean your dog is ugly ,or not nice, it just means your dog is a quality pet, not breeding material , even some dog's out of the very best pure breed lines are not breeding material , there is nothing wrong with that , he is still loved & beautiful in your eye's & doesnt make him a bit different as a pet. I am here to help anyone & answer questions & I can go further into this on if you want to breed let's do it right!
