Salem's show career was put on hold when she escaped from her co-owner's kennel run and disappeared in the farm fields of Iowa. She was finally attracted to a youngster with a peanut butter sandwich, and because she was wearing ID tags was safely returned. This escapade was followed by a six-month bout of blastomycosis, which is not always curable.

Salem went on to finish her title easily, with a Specialty weekend major. She is the dam of our beloved Sidney Ch. Paisley Parhelion (L) as well as Chs. Carmen & Dobie and Road Dog Gracie. Salem is retired and lives with a busy family which she controls with an iron paw!
