MARCH, 2003

Dear Diary,
Well, we really did move to the country on that day so long ago. It was a very different life for us kitties, and for Mom, too. Everything is so different in the country. The air is fresh, and the grass is so green. There are so many strange things to see in the country, animals and people we have never seen or heard of before, like whip-poor-wills, cicadas, katydids, copperheads, and the Amish people. Amish are very strange folks, they ride in a horse and buggy instead of driving cars. And there are lots and lots of them in the country.

Uncle Pat had lots of critters, too. The dogs; Sirius and Titan, and the cats; Norton, Biscuit, 8ball, Graybie, Bootsie, and Whiskey. Then there was Aunt Poggi's dog who hung around all the time, I didn't like him at all, I hissed at him through the window. None of us could stand to even look at him, he was so ugly. I can't remember what his real name was, everyone just called him Fugly.

Living in the country was OK, but since Mom kept her job in the city, it was just too far for her to drive everyday, and she couldn't keep doing it. So after only a few months we decided the country life just wasn't for us. We packed our stuff once again, and came back to the city. We got ourselves a new apartment and we are now city kitties again.

A lot has happened since our move to the country and back to the city, and there is so much to tell. We lost our cousins Norton, Biscuit, Tarbaby, Graybie, and Whiskey, and the bird cousins, Shutup and Dammit. Mom's friend Pat also lost her kitty Boots. Boots was a sick kitty, with kidney disease and renal failure. We almost lost our very own Fuzz, too. We found out Fuzz is a sick kitty as well. He also has kidney disease and renal failure. Mom cried and cried when she found out. Fuzz has to go to the vet all the time now, but he is feeling much better. The vet says he is a miracle kitty and she can't believe how well he is doing now. She says it is because Mom is taking such good care of him at home. He has to eat special food now that Mom can only get from the vet. Mom makes me eat it too, because the vet said it would be good for me.

Aunt Lilka got a new cousin for us not too long ago. He is little and cute and looks a lot like Fuzz. His name is Bugsy. He drives cousins Slick and Tiny crazy!! Aunt Kat had a baby, and so did Mom's friend Cyndi, that sure surprised us all!! Mom's friend Tom, from Georgia, still comes to see us, he's been doing this for years and Mom is trying to get him to just move up here, but we don't know if he ever will.

The weird store where Aunt Lilka works moved a while back and Mom helped with that. She is always working. It took her a long, long time to finally spend all the store credit that she got for helping with the move. Aunt Dodie doesn't work quite as many hours as she used to because they got her a whole bunch more people to work there and help her out. So we have been seeing a little more of her lately. And Mom quit her job a while back and she has a new job now working with Aunt Iris. She had to work nights for a long time, but she is back on day shift now, and we are all happier for it.

We had a really bad, snowy winter this year, worse than we have ever seen. It hasn't snowed this much since Mom was l little bitty girl in elementary school. That was a long, long time ago!! But we stayed warm and cozy in our little apartment. And we are hoping Spring will be here soon.
