Norva Jim My name is Jim and along with my wife, Norva, live in a small community in the state of Kentucky. I'm married have two grown stepsons (Chris and Andrew) who are also married, Chris to Becky and Andrew to Tina. They both have one son each ( Ian and Thomas respectively).I'm a Respiratory Therapist by trade and my wife is a Registered Nurse.
Together we own and operate a small horse ranch. We also raise Border Collies

We started working with horses about 11 yrs ago when my wife wanted to start taking horse riding lessons. I figured that since she was taking lessons she needed a horse to practice with. So I bought her one for her birthday. I also decided that since she had a horse I needed one too so we could ride together. Our two sons stated they wanted one also so they could ride. Since that day we have bought a small farm, opened a riding school of our own, aquired 13 horses, 1 mule, 3 Border Collies, and 2 cats. So guys beware when your wife ask about taking riding lessons.

racehorseCeltic WarriorAmong our herd of horses lives a patron celebrity. He was a contender in the 1997 Kentucky Derby. His name is Celtic Warrior. We aquired Celtic in the fall of 1997. He was retired from racing by the previous owners due to an injury he received during a race in June 1997. He has since recovered from the injury and is now living a life of almost pure luxury. (Mostly he just roams around the fields and eats). That's a picture of him to the right. Now we don't normaly take on retired horses as space here on the ranch is limited, but this here feller was a special case. Not just anybody can say they own a horse that ran in the Kentucky Derby.

We like to do a lot of trail riding but due to the nature of our jobs, it's sometimes hard to get away. We do take a vacation with our horses every September. That's when we go on a trail ride at Loretta Lynns Dude Ranch . She puts on a bi-annual trail ride each year. It's quite a lot of fun as we meet up with friends we've met from all over the U.S.A. who also attend. This year marks our 8th year.

For the love of horses

Well, as you can tell by now my wife and I are really into horses so I would like to share with you this passage from the Koran:

Thou Shalt Fly Without Wings

When God created the horse he said to the magnificent Creature:

"I have made thee unlike any other, all the treasures of the earth lie between thy eyes.

Thou shalt cast mine enemies between thy hooves, but thou shalt carry my friends on thy back.

This shalt be the seat from which prayers rise up to me.

Thou shalt find happiness all over the earth and thou shalt be favored above all of the creatures; for thee shall accrue the love of the master of the earth.

Thou shalt fly without wings, and conquer without a sword."

The Koran 560 A.D.
