Bunny Baths | |||||||||||||||||||||
While rabbits in general have good cleaning habbits and are clean animals, they may occassionally need a bath. They are not necessary unless your rabbit is soiled or if your vet reccomended it for some other reason. There are several ways to bathe rabbits; here are a few: First, set up your supplies. Next, get your rabbit. (This step is probably the most important!) You may want to clip your rabbit's claws first so that he doesn't scratch you. Use rabbit shampoo or a few drops of baby shampoo. Rub it into the fur. Pour water gently over the rabbit (avoid getting it in the ears). Rinse her until all of the shampoo is out. Rub the rabbit with a towel to get him dry. You can use a hair drier as long as you keep it on the lowest setting. Rinsing the rabbit thoroughly is a very important step in cleaning a rabbit. If soap sits on the skin or coat, it may cause irritation and possibly kill the rabbit. You must also rinse to make sure that residue gets out. Another method to bathe a rabbit is to use baby wipes or oatmeal wipes. Just wipe off the bunny! Dry shampoo also works well. If Bunny licks it off of himself, he won't get sick! |
