The old "Miefies" cage...

Since I thought it was too small for my three rats I decided to buy a larger cage now. Maybe I will combine the new and the old cage and create a real big one out of these two?

The cage size is 70x40x60 cm; that's really a bit small for 3 rats.
Therefore I tried to open the doors as often as possible and let them run around on the shelves and on the sofa. Of course they might run around outside the new cage too!

I added several wooden platforms to the cage, as well as a wooden house and the obligatory straw tube. There is another straw tube at the bottom of the cage as well as lots of shredded paper they use to build a second nest below one of the smaller platforms. Unfortunately I can't use hay because they got an allergy against it!

I furthermore added a huge hamster wheel. As my rats grew up it unfortunately became too small and wasn't useable any more =-( .

Up to now I couldn't find another wheel which didn't have these dangerous bars and open sides!
