FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS or ASK THE "WEBMEISTER!"

(If you don't get the answer you want, don't blame us...only BULLDOGS are perfect!)

For the people lucky enough to be "owned by a bulldog:"

MY BULLDOG HAS A SKIN PROBLEM. What can I do?
Better e-mail us the specifics of the "skin problem." We can be much more specific in our answer and can give you references to get additional information.

MY BULLDOG IS PRETTY INDEPENDENT! CAN I TAKE HER TO OBEDIENCE CLASSES? I'VE HEARD BULLDOGS ARE DIFFICULT TO TRAIN IN OBEDIENCE.
Yes, you can train bulldogs in obedience. In fact, many bulldogs have become obedience champions... Here's a list of AKC Obedience Champions---1994-Present.

Here's a dog who's working on his C.D---Winston, a 22-month old bulldog owned by Robert Veronneau. Winston graduated first in his advanced class and has one leg towards his C.D. In a recent fun match, he qualified in the Novice class with 190 points and place third out of 60 dogs in obedience. Congratulations, Winston, and keep working toward that C.D.!

There should be classes in your area. Check your local telephone book and newspaper. Regarding bulldogs being difficult to train, a book has been written specifically for training the bulldog and other "difficult" breeds to train. The book was written by experienced bulldog trainers, Betty Fisher & Suzanne Delzio. The book,So Your Dog's Not Lassie: Tips for Training Difficult Dogs & Independent Breeds,(Harper Collins), will tell you "everything you always wanted to know [about training bulldogs] but were afraid to ask." Again, if you have specific questions, please e-mail us and we'll try to help you find the answer.

For the people who WANT a bulldog:

WHERE DO I GET A BULLDOG?
There are many reputable breeders throughout the country. Depending upon where you live and what you're looking for (show dog or pet), we can refer you to other breeders in your area.

WHY ARE BULLDOGS SO EXPENSIVE?
Bulldogs generally have to have C-Sections and the breeder often has a stud fee and other expenses, depending upon the bitch used in the breeding. If you want a "rescued" bulldog, the costs are usually much less.

WHO WON BEST OF BREED IN BULLDOGS AT WESTMINISTER THIS YEAR?
Cody Sickle's, Ch. Cherokee Dakota Robert, won Best of Breed again this year. Cody won Best of Breed two years in a row with Ch. Prestwick Gawain (the sire of our male, Ch. Cherokee Eagle,a.k.a. Slats), and won two years in a row with Ch. Cherokee Dakota Robert.
