Brittany was our first Shiba. Acquired in March 1993, she was also our first Champion. A multiple Breed winner in both the US and Canada, Brittany had the distinction of winning Best of Opposite Sex and 1st Award of Merit at the 1995 NSCA Regional Specialty On The Pier.
Brittany then took a leave
of absence from the show ring to raise her first litter of
puppies. Bred to Am/Sta/NSCA, BISS/BIS CH Kinouk's Road Warrior
Tanasea, ROM, HOF-X, she produced 4 puppies who would leave their
pawprints in the annals of Shiba History. Daughter, Pixie, would
finish first at 7 months with multiple Breed wins over the #1
Shiba in the country. Son, RC, became a Champion with several
Breed wins over Top Champions as well, and was a multiple Group Winner, and a 1998/1999
Westminster Kennel Club Award of Merit winner. Son, Oscar,
finished both his American and Canadian Championships by 7-1/2
months of age. Oscar is the youngest Shiba to finish BOTH titles
undefeated to the points. Son, Kola, the last to finish, was the
most controversial. An American Champion at 13 months, a Canadian
Champion at 2 years, Kola is the ONLY cream Shiba in the history
of the Breed to achieve both titles.
On June 3, 2000, Brittany's last daughter, Olyvia finished her Championship, making her final production total 5 American Champions and qualifying her for her Hall Of Fame (HOF) distinction. Brittany is one of only 2
Shiba bitches, to date, to produce 2 Group Winning littermates. We are PROUD to announce that Brittany won the Brood Bitch class at the 2000 NSCA National Specialty, with son Oscar and daughter Olyvia!
In mid 1996, Brittany competed for and achieved her Companion Dog (CD) Obedience title. Although her scores were not spectacular, she taught us that with a Shiba, one must ALWAYS keep a sense of humor. Even with her moderate scores, Brittany would outdo all others by being named #1 Novice Obedience Shiba for 1996, by the Delaney Ranking System.
In September 2006, we lost our beloved Brittany. She suffered a ruptured disc in her spine, jumping off the same sofa she had made her home for the entire 13 years we loved her. Not a day goes by that we don't think of her. She lives forever in our hearts.
