Meadors move into new homeCaSandra Meadors, her daughter and a nephew moved into their new home just before Christmas. It was the 30th house built by El Dorado Habitat for Humanity. The local chapter moved its building from West Block to the St. Louis addition of El Dorado. The Meadors' house is located on Columbia Street, just behind Arby's and one block off the main street in town. St. Louis is one of the oldest African-American communities in El Dorado, and is in serious need of rehab. The three-bedroom, one-bath house was dedicated just before Christmas. CaSandra works at the local Cooper plant, and has worked on numerous houses prior to starting on her own. Helping out on the Meadors' house were numerous local church groups who took part in the first-ever Apostle Build, meaning they provided money, labor and food. The local chapter was also helped out considerably by the RV Care-A-vanners, who came for two weeks from throughout the country. The land for the CaSandra's house, and the next one, were donated by Medical Center of South Arkansas. The chapter's next house, for the Debra Malone family, also will be on Columbia, just across the street from the Meadors' home. Construction on the Malone house will begin in March 2005. As always, we will need money, volunteer workers, food providers and churches willing to put El Dorado Habitat on their prayer lists.
