STEVENS, Michael and Pearl.
Michael was born in Odessa, Russia and when he became old enough he worked in the coal mines. Pearl was probably also born near Odessa, as she and Michael were married ther in 1903. In 1912 the family came to a brother of Michael's in the Peace River District. There were now four children, Tina, Mary, John and Olga. In 1914 the family moved to Cardiff, near Morinville, for work in the mines there. While there, in 1919, another little son was born, named George. Unfortunately he died of pneumonia just a year and a day after he was born. Later another son was born who was also named George. When the mines closed in Cardiff the Stevens moved for a brief time to Edmonton, then in 1925 came to the Wabamun area where Michael worked at the Lakeside Mine. Today there home still stands just west of the power plant, deserted, owned by Transalta Utilities.
Michael was born in 1876 and died in 1935. Rev. Franklin officiated at his funeral. Pearl was born in 1884 and died in 1941. Rev. Cuttell officiated at her funeral.

STOBART, Helen Victoria.
Helen was the little blonde daughter of Bill and Helen Stobart, who farmed about four miles north of Wabamun. She had one brother. As there was no school close to the Stobart farm, Helen stayed with friends in Wabamun during the week and went to school there. In 1936 there was an outbreak of diphtheria in the village. Several people died and Helen was one of them, in her eighth year.
Helen was born in 1928 and died in 1936. Rev. Franklin officiated at her funeral.

VEITCH, James and Margaret Hogg.
James Veitch was born in West Linton, a town about 15 miles south west of Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1887. In 1880 Margaret Todd was born in Peebles, a town about ten miles away from West Linton. Jim and Margaret met and married. Jim was a steam engineer. They lived in Musselburgh, on the outskirts of Edinburgh. Here Jim served with the Edinburgh police force, and their two sons were born, James and John. In 1921, with their two little sons and Jim's brother Hope, the Veitches came to Canada. They bought a farm kitty corner to the Rexboro church (Ne18-53-4-W5). Here they farmed and Jim and Hope also worked at the Lakeside mine. They were tall, good looking men and seemed to have more than usual stamina as they walked to and from the mine, over three miles each way. Margaret and Jim were always ready to help at any community functions and join in the fun. At local dances, Margaret was always one of the women in the kitchen, helping to prepare the lunch. Their Scottish accent was a delight to hear. They were among the best liked and most respected members of our district of Rexboro.
Margaret was born in 1880 and died in 1937. Rev. Elliott officiated at her funeral. James was born in 1887 and died in 1956. Rev. Crowle officiated at his funeral.(Miners)

WAGNER, Baby.
The statistics on this baby are sadly lacking. The baby probably died in the early 1920s. The Wagner family lived one mile north of Highway 16 on the Darwell road. The family lived very much to themselves on their farm.

WALTERS, Gilbert.
Gilbert was born in 1893 in Middleton Cheney, Northamptonshire, England, which is about three miles from Banbury. Gilbert came to Canada with two brothers in 1912. Gilbert eventually came to Wabamun where he worked at the Lakeside muine. In 1923 he married Lulu Heath, of the Fallis district. They had two daughters, Jeanne and Wilma. Tragedy came to the little family when on June the first, 1927, Gilbert was drowned in Wabamun Lake.
Gilbert was born in 1893 and died in 1927. Rev. Elliott officiated at his funeral.(Miners)

WARD, Baby.
I can not find any information on this baby.

WELCH, Clara, Ephriam, Clarence.
Ephriam was born in North Dakota, USA in 1876. Clara Oslund was born in the same state in 1884. They were married in North Dakota in 1901. Soon after they were married they decided to come to Alberta where they hoped to find a little more prosperity. They first lived in Edmonton and Onoway before coming to Seba in 1906. Here Mr. Welch did some lumbering and worked around the village. Clara Welch became the postmistress, a post she held for many, many years. On occasion she also acted as midwife. It seems that the Welches never turned away a child needing a home. As well as having five children of their own, four sons and one daughter, they adopted another son and also raised two of Mrs. Welch's sisters and a niece and a nephew. The family suffered a great loss when their son, Clarence, died from pneumonia in 1926 at the age of sixteen.
Ephriam was born inb 1876 and died in 1945. Clara was born in 1884 and died in 1975. Clarence was born in 1909 and died in 1926.
