The marketed solarcells are commonly adapted for 12 or 24 V Dc system. They
are expensive, but easy to use, reliable, and have a variety of applications and
are therefore an interesting option for small electricity consumers.
They shouldn´t be used for heating purposes as the heating cost is
incompeateable high to other sources.

Today you can buy a resonable cheap transformer (12 V Dc to 230 V ac).
You need only
minor changes in your network when cutting of the local branches,
and connecting them to your new solar powered system, chunk by chunk.

MAKE YOUR SYSTEM ECONOMIC
You may use solarcells to power light, radio, television, waterpumps etc.
Prior
to switch any power system you need to make your household more economic.
Partly this is
done by replacing your lightbulbs into fluorescent ones, heatsystem
waterpump and evetually (when they are worn out) your fridge and freezer.
They are also important to defrost periodically, as the icelayer act as
insulation between cooling media and the air.
If you happened to be a possessor of an old fasioned TV-set that uses
radiovalves, replace it at ones, they are quite
dangerous because they have a habit to inflame randomly.
Also, they are great powerconsumers.
STAND ALONE EQUIPPMENT
In the end, electric solarcells are nice toys, and gives a small
contribution
to our
environment, but they are far from economic to use in urban areas.
They may be used
for gardening thow, such as lawntrimmers etc. In that
case, you will get a silent,
nonpollutive, easy to service, easy to handle
equippment. It will be slightly less powerful
and therefore give slower speed.
I have done it myself,
I replaced my old combustion engine by two electric
do. and tested for two years now, and my conclusion is clear, succsess.
By the way, Lawntrimmers is known to be heavy pollutioners to the air, far
worse than our car, I hardly beleive it.
