1564 He was born on April 23 in Stratford-on-Avon.
1582 He married Anne Hathaway when he was eighteen years old.
1583 The Shakespeares had a daughter Susanna.
1584 The Shakespeares had twins -Hamnet, a boy, and Judith.
1586 Shakespeare left Stratford for London, at the age of twenty-two.
1594 He wrote Romeo and Juliet at the age of thirty, based upon Arthur
Brooke's The Tragicall Historye of Romeus and Juliet (1562).
1609 Shakespeare published his Sonnets.
1616 He died at the age of fifty-two after having written fourteen
comedies, eleven histories, and twelve tragedies -a total of thirty-
seven plays.
1623 His complete works were published seven years after his death. This
publication of the scripts was known as the First Folio, collected
by two fellow actors John Heminge and Henry Condell.
