The Los Gatos Rowing Club's Junior Team plans for an outstanding 2001 season. This year's team will number between 110 to 150 rowers representing 10 bay area schools. Novice rowers were able to attend a Fall Introductory Program held on weekends in September and October. The regular Junior Program begins in January and runs through May. Practices during the week take place after school and weekend practices are early morning. Days of practice will vary during the season to coordinate with the racing schedule.
This year LGRC will host 3 home regattas and the team will travel to 12 competitions including the San Diego Crew Classic, the Long Beach Invitational, the Brentwood International Regatta on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Participation at the U.S. Rowing Junior National Invitational in Cincinnati will depend on Varsity race results from the S.W. Regional Championships.
Novice Team consists of 1st year rowing participants regardless of age or year in school.
Varsity and Junior Varsity Team consists of rowers who have already participated as Novice rowers or new participants whom the coaches feel have the ability to participate at this skill level.
