Dunwich Skate Park

Stradbroke Island

Built: 1980's

Address: Ballow Rd

There is really not that much to say about the old Dunwich bowl. As you get off the ferry from the main land, just drive straight up the main road and turn right at the top of the hill. This should take you down Ballow Road, but if not, then find the caravan park (also down to the right of the ferry ramp) and it is in a park just in front of the first caravan line. As this is out in the middle of nowhere, there are no toilets, drink fountains or anything close by, but it is only a few blocks back to the shops and needs.

In shape, it is very much like Underwood bowl, except with a lot more bumps and a lot less wear. Built in a large "U" shape, the top of the "U" being about 7ft deep, going down to about 4ft, then going down to nothing. This is still quite a good bowl to skate if you are stuck on Stradbroke Island, (I learnt to kick flip to fakie on the small part when we stayed there for a week), but now with the new Amity park built and at least one more on the way (Pt Lookout), this old bowl will probably be left by most to the dirt and weather once again.
