Skate Facility at
Garden City
Christian Church

Where: Mt Gravatt, Brisbane

Built: 1999

Address: Church grounds at the end of Rover St, Mt Gravatt.

The small street course they have at the church is mostly kept in a store room at the back of the building. They are usually stood up on their ends, only to come out for youth group days/nights or other special occasions. One such occasion was the PuRush event held at Browns Plains in October.

Their ramps are made by the same people who made some of the Toolbox constructions, having a very sturdy metal frame and edge (the front lip where ramp meets ground) with quite a strong, thick ply wood surface on which to do your tricks. They have a medium sized quarter pipe, about 4ft high and wide enough to do almost anything on. A large flat bank is the other big structure they have there, being the same height and width as the quarter, and having a very good angle to do flip tricks. A small spine ramp with gentle curves and well placed coping adds to these two main obstacles, along with a little jump ramp and two very long and well built rectangular grind bars. Usually the ramps are set out on a fairly rough bitumen car park which tears strips off your board if it lands the wrong way, but they are certainly fun to skate on.

To find out info on the Garden City Christian Church skate facilities, the person I was told you can contact is Wayne Brooker. There are other people there who do know what is going on with the ramps but he is the one who supposedly runs the show. The number for the church is:
