The armour people wear is usually unique, some are almost works of art. People normally wear armour in the same period as their persona, but its not uncommon, either for safety or style reasons, to wear armour from another time or geographic area. Frankly I love the stuff, you slip it on, and suddenly feel almost invulnerable. A well-fitted harness is comfy enough to sleep in, and I have seen people doing back-flips and summersaults in their armour. Apologies if I spell anyone's name wrong, they are not always phonetic afterall... Click on the thumbnail pictures for the full-sized version:Lord Philippe de Tourney, currently in mainland Caid. Sir Sebastian, from Southron Guard, wearing my fool's codpiece as a "favour". Lord Inigo Massiglia - armourer, marshal and mentor for fighters from Ildhafn. He's now a "Sir"! Thamesreach's fighters - Sir Arafel, Vallius Silvercrown. The "Age and Treachery" team, Canterbury Faire 96. Unknown re-enactor at Hever Castle. Plus another at Kirby Hall. Nice armour from the Leeds Royal Armoury, check my Rave for more. Insula Draconis fighters - Paul de Gory, Denzel. Armour from when my sister was in London, the sword is obviously a weapon, but very cool - see it at the V&A. People in Ildhafn having been making new armour since I was last there. |
