What Is Mogul Skiing?

Mogul Skiing is an event in the sport of Freestyle Skiing. Freestyle Sking is a new and changing alpine skiing sport. The sport is made up of Aerial, AcroSki, and more importantly Mogul Skiing and Dual Moguls. Frrestyle competitors who choose to ski in all events are called combined skiers. Most upper-level freestlye skier specialize in a specific event. The overwhelming majority of freestyle skier compete in Moguls and Dual Moguls

Mogul Skiing is an exciting and fast growing sport. It brings stength and agility together in thirty second runs. Mogul cometitors ski down heavily moguled ski courses that are straight and approximately 250 meters long. Skiers ski the straightest line possible and hit two jumps on the way down. Each competitor is judged by a panel of judges on his or her turns, line, air and speed. The highest score wins. The maxiumum score possible is 30. Scores in the lower and mid 20s are common. In Dual Moguls two skiers ski at the same time sid-by-side and the better skier advances to continuing rounds.
