VALLEY, CHAPTER 16 R.A.M., MARKS 50th ANNIVERSARY
The 50th Anniversary of Valley Chapter No.16, Royal Arch Masons was held in the Masonic Temple, Middleton, N. S., on Friday, October 4th. commencing with a dinner at 7:00 p.m. After dinner, ably served by Annaval Chapter, No. 31, O.E.S., High Priest G. W. Beals presided, introducing the guests of the evening. The opening ceremony was under the direction of High Priest Beals. and a list of the Charter Members was read by P.G.S. S. W. Burgess, the only surviving Companion is now very elderly and resides in Paris, Ont. Two minutes' silence was held in respect of departed Companions. The High Priest introduced all Past High Priests present and P.H.P.'s J. E. Phinney and H. G. Woodworth gave an outline of their memories, being the two oldest Past High Priests. The Chapter meeting at 8:00 p.m. was attended by Grand High Priest R. V. Hogan. Grand Secretary H. F. Sipperell. Grand Organist R.A.P. Fleming, Past Grand High Priest, S. C. Gordon and past and present Grand Lodge officers, who in turn gave very fine and illustrative addresses on capitular masonry, with reference to the part that Valley Chapter had played during the fifty years of Its existence, Special mention was made of the work and efforts of our District Grand Superintendent, J. C. Beardsley, of Bridgetown. Good wishes were brought by representatives of Chapters In this locality on the 50th anniversary of Valley Chapter. After the Chapter closed, the High Priest cut an anniversary cake, which was served to the members. Comps. E. J. Wright, of Liverpool and H. T. Cox, of Greenwood contributed to the closing of one of the largest meetings of Royal Arch Masons ever to be held in Middleton, with a touch of humour.
