Glastonbury 99. A scorcher. The following is a collecion of photo's that I
managed to take between the excellent line-up of bands, and sheltering from the blazing sun. Note:For those of
you who are interested, the pictures where taken using a PRAKTICA PD-100 digital camera. I'll learn to take an extra camera along next year for the night time shots. |

Thursday night.
The view from the stone circle across the valley. Some people stayed up here all night hoping to catch a glimpse of King Arthur and his knights charging through this mystic place. By the way thats smoke hanging over the valley, and it's not all from camp fires.
Dan, looking a little worse the wear for being stuck up a hill side on a chilly Thursday night.
Friday. The view
from half way up the hill, across the main stage area. This shot was taken in-between bands on Friday. |
The hill is begining to fill up.
A chock-a-block hillside. Can't remember who was about to start playing before this shot was
taken. |
The dance tent. Fatboy Slim is on followed by the Chemical Brothers, but can we get in?
Just made it in to catch Fatboy Slim (this is the only shot I could manage of his set). I
guess they'll need to buy a bigger tent next year. |
It's fire jugling, believe me. A line of fire juglers. Look, you can see it if you use your
imagination! p.s. REM were good! |

Saturday....and the
sun is still beating down. The bands are still playing and the line-up is looking good (and we're back up on the hill trying not to notice the sun-burn we got yesterday). |
Can't remember taking this one, or even WHY I took it. If anyone know's, send me a mail.
Another attempt to get some fire juggling on film. Yet another unsuccessful attempt.
Sunday. It's
looking a bit overcast today, but heck, the Sun's a coming and The Fun Loving Criminals are on tonight! |
Not many pictures taken today as there were just too many good bands playing. After watching
DR Didj, Al Green, The Corrs, Lenny Kravitz and last but best THE FUN LOVING CRIMINALS (They rock!), there was no time for piccy taking. |
So here comes the worst selection, the "night time" shots.
These were taken while wandering aroung the Circus/Theatre area in the early hours of the morning. 24hrs a day there's something going on. |
2 strange men on stilts. Actually compared to some of the characters I bumped into this night,
they were anything but strange. |
The big white ship
I've got to say that this theatre group were amazing. For those of you who weren't there, they were riding around the site on a float (built like a ship) singing italian opera with a backing of dance/trance
sounds. |
Every so often they came back to the outside theatre stage and did a performance that included
stilt walking, pole climbing, acrobatics and the obligatory italian opera. |
If you ever get a chance to see them anywhere, then go see them. They're called: "La
Compagnie Malabar" from France. They were a definate highlight. |
There were lot's of other night-time shots taken, but they weren't good
enough to show here (basically I was having trouble figuring out what they were). |
