11 OctoberNative Plant Nuances - NZILA Revegetaition Workshop A successful workshop was held in Rotorua to help landscape architects to hone their revegetation skills, whether they are new to the field or have decades of revegetation experience. Top restoration ecologist Stephen King provided endless information for people gathered from all over the North Island.
A repeat is planned for South Islanders in Christchurch on 11 October. This will be an interactive workshop to assist practitioners (landscape architects, ecologists, horticulturalists or simply keen revegetators) in the complex fields of revegetation and restoration. Topics will include deciding whether revegetation is appropriate, planning and preparing sites, species selection, eco-siting, establishment techniques using seed or plants, phasing from nurse crops to final canopy and understorey, and weed management. The format allows the particular interests of participants to be addressed.
