the stag party
On 19th and 20th June 1999, me and four friends went to Amsterdam to celebrate my stag weekend. Left to right: Pegs, me (aka Dr. Drew), Doug (aka King Queen), Jon, James. Much substance abuse went on, this is a record of that time. If you want to read more about Amsterdam, check out my coffeeshop guide: Click here.

early on in Baba's
Everyone still looks bright and perky: we'd just arrived. This is Baba's coffeeshop on Oudebrugsteeg - no.1 in the coffeeshop guide.

KQ loses it big-style.
in the park
The weather was fantastic. For some reason I thought it would be a good idea to get the tattoo out. Relax, girls, I'm married (now).

THE HONEYMOON

I've only put a few photos up, I know how boring it can be looking at photos of other peoples' holiday!!

We went to Ardnamurchan in Scotland. This is a peninsula to the north of Mull, on the west coast. It is the westernmost point of the mainland of Great Britain. I fell in love with the place, it was truly gorgeous: bleak in parts, but also fabulously lush in others, water everywhere in sea lochs and freshwater and best of all hardly any people. For instance, we went on a walk to this nature reserve called Ariundle, near Strontian, in reasonable weather, walked for an hour and a half and saw no-one else at all! I would heartily recommend it for a holiday, as long as you have your own car: as you'll see even from this limited selection of photos, there's something for everyone, including the BEST beach in Britain.

To find out more about Ardnamurchan, click here for the official "tourist" site.

view from hotel - Loch Sunart This was the view from the bedroom window of our fantastic hotel! Not bad, huh? That's Loch Sunart and the uninhabited island of Carna. The hotel was called Feorag House, Glenborrodale, Acharacle, Argyll. It's an excellent place: not cheap, but well worth it.
Me and my bride, Clare, near the aforementioned Ariundle nature reserve, in Glen Strontian. Glen Strontian
Tobermory Tobermory, the main town on Mull. We got the ferry over from Kilchoan, on Ardnamurchan, for the day. I thought Tobermory would be really touristy and commercialised, but it wasn't at all, I found it a really pleasant place. There's a distillery, an arts centre, two or three good pubs for lunch and beer, and as you can see it's an attractive place in its own right.
Sanna Bay. If there's a better beach in Britain I've not heard of it. Golden sand; totally clear and unpolluted water; rock pools teeming with life; and as you can see, NO PEOPLE. All it needs is a place to get a beer and it would be perfect, but then again maybe we're not meant to see perfection in this life. Sometimes we can approach it, and dream. As long as there are places like this I think there's still hope for the world. Sanna Bay
Ardnamurchan Point Ardnamurchan Point, the westernmost point of Great Britain (you can just see the island of Rum behind it). A terrific spot, reached by a real "end-of-the-world" road. There's a visitor centre at the lighthouse, but nothing cheesy, certainly about one thousand times less offensive than Land's End, which isn't the westernmost (or even the southernmost) point of anything.
