What You Can Do
- While the "fight" to keep the wolves in Yellowstone has been "won" for now, there is still a need for help. Help in educating others about this magnificent creature so the chances of another fight in the future doesn't become a reality. Here are some suggestions on how to help:
- Write to your elected Congressmen and urge them to support regulations that work on the wolves behalves.
- Send a donation to an organization that supports wolf recovery. For example, National Wildlife Federation, Wolf Park, Defenders of Wildlife, among others. Check out these links to learn more.
- Adopt-A-Wolf. I have adopted two wolves.
- Wahotts, I adopted through Friends of the Forest. Wahotts (name means "howls a lot") is part of the Nez Perce Sawtooth Pack in Idaho. This pack is watched over by a tribe of Native Americans. The pack has been in existence since 1991 and has undergone many changes in the years since. Money from the adoption of a wolf in this pack is used to fund research and support public education concerning the wolf. For more information call 818-993-8929.
- Orca, I adopted at Wolf Park located in Battle Ground, Indiana. Orca is a 4 year old male. He was found paralyzed on November 28, 1997. The cause has never been determined. Through patience and hard work of the staff at Wolf Park, Orca is slowly regaining the use of his hind legs. Since I have lots of pictures, I have set up a separate page for Orca. You can visit Wolf Park website by checking the links above.
- I am selling ceramics to raise funds that will be donated to the National Wildlife Federation on behalf of the wolves. To see samples, go to my Ceramics page.
- Help teach the public about wolves. Spread the word that wolves are not dangerous. There is no known killing of a human by healthy wolves. Most of the fear people have about the wolf are based on unfounded myths.
