Cross Reference of Sailing Sites and Wind Data Stations
for Wndsurfing and Kitesurfing on Vancouver Island

So, how do you find out how windy it is at your sailing site, or which sailing site is closest to the windiest site? Well, it literally drove me nuts all summer trying to figure this out. The two tables should make this a lot easier for you.

Table 1 lists the common Sailing Sites and the relevant wind data station reference sites.

Table 2 lists the Wind Data Station Reference Sites and the relevant sailing sites.

Hopefully, this will help you out. It is only a general guide and is a work in-progress as we continue to learn more and add more sites. Any information that you can send me would be much appreciated.

There are quite a few wind data websites around. For most of your local Vancouver Island South wind data needs, I recommend Big Wave Dave's Website, which hosts a compilation of relevant wind data with a user friendly interface to plot wind, and a mini wind predictor! For Nitinat area, I recommend Randall Kashinos Nitinat Webpage.
