The Committee's mandate is to protect the local, historical, cultural and natural heritage of Cocagne such as its wildlife, flora, wetlants, shorelines, rivers and streams, wooded areas, mollusks (wild and cultivated) and its bay.
To establish better methods of protecting wildlife habitats, we will seek the cooperation of organizations such as naturalist clubs, birdwatching clubs, the New Brunswick Conservation Council, the Canadian Wildlife Federation, and others.
Obtain the cooperation of government agencies involved in the above and gather information of newer and better methods of protection.

Encourage the younger generation to become better informed about nature and wildlife; provide training to make them more aware of the importance of a clean and undisturbed environment; get them involved in their future.
Efforts should be made to take better care of our brooks, rivers and shoreline.
If the foregoing can be achieved, it will make Cocagne a better place to live in or visit. Most important is to pass along a clean environment to future generations.
