"Internet for ESL learning: research and experimentation".
It was an experimental work, a research aimed at the evaluation of learning possibilities displayed by Internet technologies for foreign languages, especially for ESL. The main purpose has been that of individuating on the Internet those educational learning resources that have been created by ESL instructors or institutions with the aim of offering a source of distance learning and practice for ESL students, in view of a development of a global communicative competence. The study regarded pedagogical and language learning theories in relation of the employment of information technologies, and the changes and implications related to the application of these technologies, especially computers networks. The core of this research however is the exposition and evaluation of the different learning resources the Internet offers for ESL students, mostly on the WWW. Illustrations and comments help understanding the educational utility of the different services offered by the sites, both for autonomous learning and for class lessons, in relation to the linguistic competence of the learner. Many Internet URLs are indicated to sites where it is possible to practice English both in reading, writing, listening/speaking skills, or where cultural and literary information and materials are available.
