Mr. Broberg currently is employed by Cable
Television Laboratories, Inc. "CableLabs" where he serves in the position of Vice
President of Consumer Video Technology. Mr. Broberg joined CableLabs in
1999 and is responsible for guiding, directing, and influencing key
strategic developments involving next-generation technology and
cable-compatible retail television and set-top box (STB) products. He
formerly lead the team associated with the creation and maintenance of
OpenCable™
and related specifications. Previously Broberg served as marketing director for Mitsubishi Electronics Americas Digital Broadcasting Business Project (DBBP), David Broberg provides more than 23 years of knowledge and expertise in the television industry including broadcast, cable, satellite and consumer electronics. After joining Mitsubishi Electric America, Inc. in 1990, Broberg helped establish the company as a leading provider of home entertainment technologies and broadcast solutions. Broberg was responsible for DBBPs market analysis, communications and product development. Before joining DBBP, Broberg worked with Mitsubishi Consumer Electronics America where he was involved with the companys engineering and video product development, determining industry standards and developing the companys business on the Internet. Prior to joining Mitsubishi Electric, Broberg worked for seven years as director of engineering for Laird Telemedia (ICM Video). He also served as video quality engineer for RCA Selectavision Videodisc and was factory service manager at Sony Video products company. As an integral member of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) and the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE), Broberg commits much of his time to working on projects that contribute to the greater good of the television industry and better serve consumers. In recent years, he has chaired several organizations including SCTE-DVS Drafting Groups for SCTE-40 and SCTE-105 and CEMAs R-4.3 XDS Subcommittee, R-4.3 URL Subcommittee, and the Decoder Interface Committee (a joint program involving CEMA and NCTA). Broberg is also an active member in the Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineers (IEEE), Consumer Electronics Society (CES) and the Broadcast Technology Society (BTS) and a former member of the Audio Engineering Society (AES), the Society of Motion Picture & Television Engineers (SMPTE), Regarded as an expert in the television industry, Broberg has delivered several presentations to colleagues on television technology including data broadcasting and cable-ready interfaces at industry trade shows and conferences such as the National Show, the National Association of Broadcasters Broadcast Engineering Conference, the International Conference on Consumer Electronics and the Consumer Electronics Show. |
