This is the next higher
level of computer literacy, demonstrating the ability
to use more technology applications and Internet tools.

Know how to prepare an
electronic presentation. Electronic presentations can be easily developed
using, for example, Microsoft PowerPoint. All faculty should be able to
design an electronic presentation to support classroom lectures and
discussions.

Know how to use a
spreadsheet. Using spreadsheets to maintain student grades, calculate
scores, and eliminate errors is a high priority.

Understand the effective
use of a Home Page or Web site. Faculty who support their face-to-face and
distance education courses with a Home Page are able to maintain and
distribute course materials instantly. They offer students a method of
communication twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

Know how to use ftp to
download files and/or upload home pages to a Web server.

Know how to use Usenet.
Sharing ideas in one’s discipline with peers is challenging and a learning
experience.
