Safeguards

Before attempting to modify any file, copy the file to another location (folder/directory) or copy & rename it (DO NOT RENAME THE ORIGINAL FILE / name the copy something you will remember!)

In the case of the System Registry file in Windows95, use the Registry / Export Registry file... in the REGEDIT.EXE program to save the current registry file.

Note: There are 2 read-only/hidden/system backup files located in the WINDOWS folder. I explain how to restore these in the System Registry Tips for WIN95.

Once you have a backup copy of the file saved, you can proceed to make the suggested modification. Be sure to follow the directions exactly!

If the desired results are not what you expected, you can copy the backup file you created back to its original location and name.

Remember: BACKUP FIRST! . . . FIRST BACKUP!
