For most companies, "off the shelf" software will meet the bulk of your needs. But when you can't find a product that does what you're looking for, the best solution may be to create a custom system developed specifically for your company. For example, one client repairs luggage for the airline industry. Since there are so few companies in this industry, they couldn't find a commercially available software package to track the luggage repair. However, their other accounting needs were fairly common - paying the bills, printing financial statements, etc. We created a custom luggage repair and tracking system linked to a standard accounting software package. Now they can track the status of each passenger's baggage repair while eliminating the need to re-enter the financial data into a separate accounting package.


Microsoft Access97 We have chosen to work with Microsoft Access to create custom databases for our clients. MS Access was chosen for a variety of reasons:
  • Access provides a seamless integration between its database and the Microsoft Office suite of products, including Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Access is a powerful database aptly suited to meet the needs of small- to medium-sized businesses.
  • The import/export capabilities of Access allow an easy access to share data with other systems.
  • If your company's needs should outgrow the capabilities of Access, you can upgrade your system to use MS SQL Server as a back-end database workhorse.
