Anime Expo 2001 was AX's ten-year anniversary, so the staff probably tried extra hard to make sure things went well, which mostly happened. On the very down side, my car was vandalized on the last day of the show, *after* we had loaded all of our stuff into the car. Well, in retrospect it doesn't seem that awful. Many people dress up in costumes for AX. Mostly adults, but occasionally an adorable child.
