time to choose...

Me
I got my first pet rat in August of 2003. It took some time to convince myself I could spend enough time with a pet during college to make it worth getting one, but once I did decide, the research began. I used to keep mice as pets when I was a kid, but I wanted something with a little more intelligence. After considering hamsters and gerbals, I decided the mood and mentality of a rat was the best choice. I sought out a professional breeder where I live (I never knew they bred professionally!) and went to pick one out from a new litter with a good friend of mine. A few weeks later I had a pure breed black rex female rat named Lady. She has a gentle exploritative personality and is very sweet. Most suprising is that she exibits far more intelligence than I thought possible. She demonstrates recognition, the ability to learn through repetition, and even memorization of physical objects. I've definitely grown attached as she continues to be one of the best pets I've ever had.
