I enjoy using the radio
equipment to monitor the birds (amateur and weather satellites). I have
even tried to talk every once in a while to (MIR and the Space Shuttle).
I use a variety of tracking programs, or computer orbit plotting programs
like STSPLUS and TRACKSAT, but my favorite is STSPLUS. STSPLUS by David
Ransom can be found in the pub/hamradio/pc/satellite/ subdirectory at oak.oakland.edu
software libraries. This program is fantastic for following the latest
shuttle missions or weather satellite passes, especially since it tracks
multiple targets, has a variety of visual prjections and is generally fun
to work with and easy to use. I am a member of AMSAT-NA
and can't wait for the launch of PHASE-3D amateur radio satellite.
Hope to hear you on. The Houston AMSAT net runs every Tuesday evening at

I use DOS, Windows95/NT
and Unix/Linux envrionments. I don't do much programming, rather I enjoy
the hardware aspects of computers. I have some knowledge of networking
like LAN, ATM, and other misc. stuff. I also do some internet and
web design consulting on the side. I give a lot of my time to help non-profit
and christian organizations get on the information superhighway :-)
