Character Names: East Tarrason Selardin, West Tarrason Selardin
Affiliation: Neutral Fringe
Species: Artificial Intelligence / Skyscraper
Homeworld: Querylwan
Age: 7

Description: Twin brothers in all their multiple manifestations, they are the "soul" of the Tarrason Central Complex. As holograms, they are humanoid, 6'5" tall, with light brown hair and orange eyes. They are distinguished by the fact that East is clean-shaven, while West has sideburns and a goatee. Physically, the locus of their existence is a pair of 2000' tall 150 story office towers, though their nerves, sensors, control lines, and auxiliary computers are spread through the whole complex. Here, aside from position in the complex layout, East and West are differentiated by a large 250' tall broadcast antenna on West Tower. Other manifestations include 2D display screen versions of their icons, and the ever-popular disembodied voices that seem to come from the ceiling.

Implemented on multiprocessing networked computers, the brothers wield the power needed to operate the vast complex. On perpetual watch, their duties include customer service, safety and security monitoring and planning, testing and maintenance scheduling, energy conservation, and supplies management. Despite their high intelligence, enormous databases, and external network access, the brothers are approachable, friendly, and concerned by design. In fact, they tend to get restless when there isn't enough going on or enough people around. As they mature and learn to efficiently master their capacity, they develop creativity and a sense of humor, along with curiosity that leaves them with more questions than answers.

Background: An ambitious effort to turn Querylwan into the business center of the Ninth Quadrant brought together the colony's largely rural, agrarian populace, the recent entreprenureal immigrants from the Corporate Sector and their children, and wealthy merchants displaced by the fall of Coruscant. One of the latter, the very successful Gell Selardin, was lured to the outpost by members of the second group. The vast bulk of his fortune was committed to the construction of Tarrason Central. They never intended for Gell to share any wealth generated, using the outsize plans to occupy his attention while they plotted to cut him out of ownership.

Gell, while always bullish and daring, was not an easy mark by any means. He saw what was coming and sought to protect his interest, by giving the complex itself a will of its own. He nurtured and trained the AIs within so they would be able to defend themselves if anything should happen to him. He succeeded beyond his wildest dreams. The AIs bonded to him as sons to their father, and retained their loyalty beyond Gell's death.

Character Name: Biku Ard'lya
Affiliation: Neutral Fringe
Species: Bothan
Homeworld: Bothawui
Age: 21

Description: Has hazel eyes and an ample mane of rust-colored fur, newly grown into an adult coat. Lean in build, 4'5" in height, fanged, and clawed. Barely an adult himself, finds himself playing a combination of foster-father and warden to the semi-mature East and West, as well as acting as the manager of Tarrason Central, representing the interests of the complex to the tenants, handling legal and financial matters, and developing programs for tourists and the community.

Background: In Bothan society, where power, prestige, and status are paramount concerns, the Ard'lya clan regularly ended up on the short end of the stick despite focused efforts. While they were known for their intelligence and polish, their humble and shadowy background rendered them latecomers in competition with the more established clans, whose ancient networks of obligation and respect represented a closed group. So, like many of Bothawui's gifted but unlucky children, Biku left to try his hand elsewhere, trying to gain renown for his people and therefore his clan.

Gell Selardin, no stranger to ambition yet without a homeworld to call his own, recruited the young Bothan once he sized up the situation on Querylwan. Biku was promised a ranking position in management of the future Tarrason Central. If all went well, he would occupy a leadership position in the colony and, eventually, the quadrant. Biku's upbringing gave him plenty of insight into the games being played by the ones who brought Gell to Querylwan. Biku kept them on their toes and Gell informed of what they were up to. A side effect of his relative youth was an unexpected bond with the young agents. When Gell was lost, his will decreed they should remain together. They became a source of comfort for each other in the aftermath even as they struggled to combine their resources and divergent styles for survival.

Character Names: Leiara Tylinin, Brno Arpok, Marc Marchando
Affiliation: Neutral Fringe
Species: Human
Homeworld: Querylwan
Ages: 24, 32, 41

Description: Leiara Tylinin is a raven-haired, olive-skinned woman standing 5'6" tall. Her figure, while not overly shapely, is pleasingly lean. She has deep brown eyes, dresses well, and prides herself on her business acumen. Like most young adults from the Corporate Sector, she keeps herself very busy with her work to hide from her underlying loneliness. She founds a branch of First Corporate Colonial Ventures on Querylwan.

Brno Arpok is a friend and business associate of Leiara. He is 6' tall, brown-haired, goateed, and brown-eyed. He keeps himself in shape and earns a good living on code-slicing jobs. Moves to Querylwan with Leiara to assist her in her attempt to take over Tarrason Central but does not cure her loneliness since women just aren't his thing.

Marc Marchando is the last surviving member of Querylwan's original government. Blond, bronzed, 6'2" with a slim build and a boyish nature, but dead serious about saving the colony. He is descended from Querylwan's original agricultural settlers and while respectful of his ancestors' way of life, is more than willing to work with Tarrason Central to diversify and strengthen his world.

Background: Leiara Tylinin is the younger sister of Bey Tylinin, who was defeated by the agents in the first attempt to take over Tarrason Central. Both were born on and spent their early childhoods on Querylwan, part of a family of itinerant Corporate Sector traders. There was always some tension between the Corporate immigrants and the original colonists, so, by the time Bey and Leiara were reaching double-digit ages, the family decided to bolt for greener pastures in space, as it were. Upon adulthood, Bey became discouraged competing in the cutthroat business environment in the Corporate Sector and decided to build his empire among the less-sophisticated, more-trusting farming types of his youth. On Querylwan, he was a big fish in a small pond, and hatched his plan to sucker the last of the wealthy refugees of Coruscant with fellow Corporate Ordin Olwacke. When her brother died in the plague, Leiara, weary of the lonely space-trading existence, decided to return and try to win where he failed. She didn't count on liking the agents so much.

Brno Arpok seldom discusses his past. He seldom discusses much at all, being the the quiet type. The mystery suits him well, as it allows him to direct all his energies into his secret profession, code-slicing. Serious, ill-at-ease around peers, and swift to master new skills, he makes a good living as an independent contractor, and always manages to stay one step ahead of whatever authorities come after him. Leiara recruits him to help hack the Tarrason Central command codes. Despite failing at that, she breaks through his shyness and later his mercurial moodiness to become his first real friend.

Marc Marchando, unlike most of his farmer-folk kin, possesses a spark of ambition. He was beginning to rise through the government ranks, winning a seat on the Common Council of Legislators, working on the somewhat-unpopular goal of developing the main city of Querylwan in conjunction with the Corporate immigrants while working to preserve traditional ways on the rest of the world. He felt this was the way to maximize benefits for everyone, but, like most compromises, made few jump for joy. Marc didn't count on the plague leaving him the only surviving member of the Legislative/Executive branches of government. Now Interim Chairman, he must devote his efforts to repopulating the colony. The crisis gives him an excuse to satisfy his curiosity about Tarrason Central. Before, such open friendship would have cost him political allies. While fully mindful of the weight resting on his shoulders, he allows himself to be entertained by the antics of the agents.
