Thanks for stopping by FSE Insights! Now a little about me:
I have been interested in computers ever since I was eight-years-old. I am lucky enough to have a father who has over 30 years experience with mainframe and mini computers. He practically wrote the book on Modern Flight Simulator Repair. He also designed, built, and marketed his own CPM peripherals. When I was in middle school, I started working for his company, Scottie Systems, where I did "harness soldering," and then minor troubleshooting. We even had a government research facility buy high-end systems from us, and come back for more.
After Scottie Systems, I worked at a very small Milpitas distributer, American Computer Products. There, I just did RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) and maintained the company NetWare server for a year. Then, I jumped ship to a startup company called MicroAccess; back in 1992 we coined the phrase "Fast Ethernet." Then came Dyna Micro, a larger-style system house/distributor. I was one of two in the technical support department. The other one, Nipporn Kiatanttiant, now works at the US GS. After Dyna Micro, I wound up at Source-One InfoSystems, Microage. There, I did a lot of on-site service, new system integration, NOS system pre-prep and hardware upgrades, disk-array configuration (hardware and software), and fixed HP LaserJet printers. Then, in 1995, I got hired at CompuTask. It's a small computer repair and service company, and my job was to respond to maintenance contract accounts, as well as per-call accounts. I also installed networks for other companies.
I left CompuTask mid-1999 to work for Synopsys, Inc. as a Systems Administrator in their NCS department. I stayed for about a year in their IS department, and although the people there were really great to work with, I unfortunately wasn't learning anything new. I had hoped to learn more UNIX, but I was so busy there, that it was very difficult to learn new skills.
Late 2000, I left Synopsys to work at a start-up called Chameleon Systems. I really enjoy my new job, as it is with a relatively small, but growing, company, and I am the NT Systems Administrator there. I also work for a UNIX guru, so I can hopefully expand my skillset into the UNIX field, as well.
That's all for now. I'll update this occassionally as interesting stuff happens. In the meantime, you can either take a look at my resumé or find out about the history of the Sicotte ancestors. It's very interesting reading! (At least it is to the person who insisted that I put it up here.) You can also
email me with any questions or comments. I'll be glad to hear it!
