- It would seem the Blanden name originated in France ('de Blondin'). Chased out of France, they settled in a suburb of Brusselles, now called Blanden (1500s). Some then settled in Suffolk (UK), near Sudbury and Woodbridge (1600s). A member of the clan settled in Boston (USA), and formed Taunton Steel Works (1700s). Blandinsville in Illinois was later settled. A member of the clan also went to Australia around 1856.
