The Distant Call
I got a distant call last night,
that sent me thinking of my plight,
of what the future held for me,
and whether I could be set free.
We talked and talked he asked questions;
He also made some suggestions;
and while he spoke I percieved that
there was now hope within my heart.
A distant call and still it was,
but I felt close to him because
he spoke more like a father than
a judge or ghost or angry man.
He gave me something I could use,
an offer I could not refuse;
"I give you life and death-choose life"
he said, and yes I did choose life.
