The conversion of the T56 La Galissonnière provided impetus for the conversion of these ships as well. Just as in her only the forward ASW torpedo tubes where retained, the aft long anti-surface tubes where discarded. Unlike later purpose built ASW escorts they never had the SENIT action information system. They differ from D638 La Galissonnière in not having a flight deck and collapsible helicopter hangar. Instead they have a their second 100mm mounting atop the Malafon missile magazine deckhouse. The 6-barrelled 375mm mortar is fitted in the "B" position forward the bridge.
