The Delta Clipper Spacecraft

Developed by the US Air Force and NASA, the Delta Clipper is a relatively small unmanned spaceship that is designed to go to orbit without the help of booster rockets or discardable external fuel tanks like the spaceshuttle. The ship is re-useable requiring only $5 million and seven days to prepare, much more efficient and less expensive than the space shuttle which requires $1 billion and weeks of prep time for each launch. The Delta Clipper also has the unique ability to hover, much like a Harrier jumpjet. It is the classic spaceship that writers and futurists who lived earlier in the century envisioned in their stories. It will eventually be the basis for designs that will carry people and equipment inexpensively and efficiently into orbit.
