GRADING POLICY for GEOMETRY

Grades will be determined according to performance in
the following categories and grade averages per assignment.

Projects: 30%
Projects will range in size from a few days to a few weeks
and will represent a major problem solving effort. Only complete projects
will be accepted for grading, which will include knowledge
of mathematics, communication skills,
following instructions and turned in on time.
When the project involves a team of two or more students, then social
responsibility may be a factor in the grade.
Tests: 30%
Tests and quizzes will be given periodically and will have
a time limit.
Homework: 20%
Every student must do the homework.
Homework assignments are usually published in advance.
a) All work
in this class must be done clearly and neatly.
b) All essential
portions of the solution must be shown.
c) All homework
must be kept in a three ring binder.
( You will need to easily remove or add single pages. )
d) All papers
must have a correct heading in the upper right-hand corner.
Skill Building: 20%
Incomplete or incorrect solutions to test questions will
be corrected. The correction will include an explanation of what was done
incorrectly followed by a complete correct solution. There is a cover page
with a rubric used to correct chapter tests. Other skill building assignments
are designed to show improvement in Performance Standards
.
Late Work:
Work that is turned in within three class periods after the
due date is accepted for a maximum of a C grade. Work that is turned in
after this is accepted for a maximum of 50% of the assigned points. Late
work due to approved absences will accepted according to the standard school
policy.
Tutorial:
Tutorial is from 7:50 to 8:20 every school day. Late or revised
work is accepted during tutorial times only.
