Joseph Babel was born Abt. September 17, 1810 in Beaver County, Pennsylvania; d. July 25, 1886. He married Jane Edie Abt. 1834 in Pennsylvania.

Alexander was a Civil War veteran and served in Company "E"
of the 192nd Regiment of the Ohio Volunteer Infantry for about one year in
1865.

James was listed as a labourer in the 1860 Census of Auglaize Township, Paulding
County, Ohio. In 1860 James was working for Frederick Ruffner, who
was a lumberman from Switzerland. James Babel was a Civil War veteran,
and served in the 186th Regiment of the Ohio Volunteer Infantry(O.V.I.),
Company C, of the Army. James served in the Civil War from 1861 to
1865 (3 yrs., 8 months). James participated in Sherman's famous march
across the South, which left many towns and homes in flames. James
brother-in-law, George Matty, also served in the 68th Regiment of the Ohio
Volunteer Infantry. James may have me his wife through serving with
her brother in the Civil War.
James' family name is spelled "Bable" and "Babel" depending on which census you read. Many family records show his name spelled "Bable. "Babel" is the correct German spelling of the name. The name is spelled "Babel" on Lydia Ann Margaret Boutwell's birth certificate.

name may have been "Calissa" instead of "Calina." Mary Ann Boutwell
Miller has indicated that the proper name is Caroline

Harvey Boutwell was a farmer and blacksmith. He and his family resided

Austin was a toolmaker for the Hudson Motor Company of Detroit, Michigan.
Austin's death certificate indicates that he died from a motor running
in a closed garage. It is believed that Austin committed suicide because
he had been caught by the police making "bath tub" gin at his home in Detroit.
Austin was distraught, since he felt that he had damaged his family
name. Austin is buried at Woodmere Cemetery in Detroit. Austin
was raised by his uncle, John Babinger, since his parents had both died of
Typhoid in 1895. On Austin's death certificate his mother's name is
spelled "Roxie Knipe." The 1880 Census of Springfield Township, Williams
County, Ohio (page 663 A) indicates that John Babinger and his wife Alice
were living with William and "Roxie." Alice and Roxie were
sisters.
Austin's last residence was 3606 W. Lafayette in Detroit, Michigan.
Austin was buried on April 13, 1931 in the Woodmere Cemetery in Detroit, Michigan.

on Clyde Delbert McQueen.
Clyde was a Material Handling Engineer for Chrysler corporation. Clyde
developed and installed handling systems for Chrysler plants in South Africa,
Columbia, Brazil, Argentina, Scotland, England, Mexico and the United States.
Clyde loved fishing and golfing. Clyde and Helen retired to Lake
Margarethe where their son William owned a large log cabin on the lake.
The McQueen family had been summering on Lake Margarethe, since Clyde
began bringing the family there in the 1950's. Clyde and Helen tried
to have their children and grandchildren for dinner at their home on Larges
in Southfield, Michigan every Sunday. Clyde tried to keep all his children
close and did not want his children to move too far away. He wanted
his family to grow up close to each other. The family is still very
close.
Clyde was raised a Methodist and converted to Roman Catholic. His main residence was Larges Street in Southfield and Grayling, Michigan. Clyde was baptized on June 16, 1949, at the Church of The Visitation in Detroit, Michigan. He successfully beat cancer a couple of times. Clyde had also had small skin cancers removed.

Helen was a businesswoman long before it was fashionable. Helen worked
for many years selling aluminum siding while Clyde worked at Chrysler.
This allowed them to hire maids to clean and cook for the children.
Helen was a direct decendent of the first settlers of Detroit (DeLisle,
Riopelle, St. Aubin, Droulliard, Campau, and Livernois). Her grandfather
was a judge and State Representative (Peter Bienvenu DeLisle). Helen
was Catholic.

on Glenn Austin McQueen.
Glenn McQueen served 25 years as a Detroit policeman, and served many of
those years as a Detective Sergeant. He was a veteran Special Investigation
Bureau officer, and retired on January 1, 1961. Glenn was a holder
of four citations, one of which won him radio fame. "McQueen's top
case was the arrest and conviction of two union officials he caught extorting
money from vending machine proprietors in a Detroit Factory," according to
the Wednesday, November 9, 1960 edition of the Detroit Free Press. "For
14 years he worked in the Auto Recovery Bureau and aided in the exposure
and capture of car theft rings . . . Solving of a hit-run death in 1938,
when he worked for the Accident Prevention Bureau brought McQueen his radio
fame." Glenn resided at 13578 Kentucky in Detroit,
Michigan.

Bill retired from Inland Tool Manufacturing in Detroit as its President.
He reported to Mr. Ralph Wilson, who owned the Buffalo Bills football
team. Bill was also once the President of the Detroit Athletic Club
(DAC). Bill showed his nephew Jeffery Allan McQueen his family tree
charts and got Jeff involved in genealogy. These files are the result.
William is Catholic.

on Mary Frances Conway.
Mary came from a very well-to-do family of Grosse Pointe, Michigan. The
Conway family was well known for manufacturing "pot belly" stoves. One
extremely large stove built by the family business stood outside the Michigan
State Fair Grounds for many years until it was finally disassembled. Mary
Frances was always a lady. However, she loved to play cards. Once
when the whole family was spending its annual vacation on Lake Margarethe
in Grayling, Michigan, Mary Frances played cards with Father Perryman (a
relative on the Lyons side of the family) and she won so often she caused
him to swear. Mary Frances childhood friend was Barbara Couzens (a
granddaughter of James Couzens, who convinced Henry Ford to offer people
$5/day to come to work on his automobile assembly lines. the Couzens
owned Wabeek). Barbara Couzens also married Leo Brennen, who came from
an extremely wealthy logging family from the Upper Penninsula of Michigan.
Leo serves as the Chairman of the Ford Foundation.

on Clyde Delbert McQueen Jr.
Clyde Delbert McQueen Jr. was a teacher for many years in the Southfield,
Michigan school district. Clyde was prominent in union activities.
Clyde also assisted Father Cunningham in the launch of Focus Hope,
which began during the 1967 Detroit riots in Michigan. Clyde also helped
Caesar Chavez with the unionization of migrant grape pickers, which resulted
in Clyde getting a FBI file. Clyde is Catholic.

James Francis McQueen Sr. (my father) married my mother when they were just
18-years-old. Jim started out his career as a "tin man" selling aluminum
siding. Later he became involved in selling insurance and mobile homes,
and then set up his own automotive job shop called: A.M.O. on 1209 East 10
Mile Road (across from Hazel Park Race Track). Jim was very active
in the Boy Scouts as his son's were growing up, and served as Scout Master.
Jim loves the great outdoors. Jim's hobbies are hunting and fishing.
James attended Catholic Central High School, and Lawrence Tech.
James was raised a Catholic and converted to Presbyterian. Clyde
D. McQueen Jr. and John Naslund were the witnesses at his wedding. Father
Markie was the priest that officiated at James' wedding.

on Cathryn Carol Clink.
Cathryn Carol Clink was the youngest of four children. She first
met her husband, Jim in kindergarden. She married James Francis McQueen
within the first year out of high school. Carol was at home raising
their four children and was a partner in A.M.O. (an automotive component
manufacturer). Carol also found time to be a leader of a troop of Girl
Scouts, which travelled often. Carol loves to read, knit, garden and
make clothing for everyone. Carol has created most of the Christmas
stockings for everyone on both sides of the family. The Clink and Neely
families were pioneer settlers of Southwestern Ontario. Carol went
to Mumford High School and is currently working on her college diploma from
Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. Cathryn was raised a Free
Methodist/Nazarene and converted to Presbyterian.

on James "Jamie" Francis McQueen Jr.
Jamie works in Michigan's Upper Pennisula in the correctional system.
Jamie attended Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan
and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. Jamie
loves living close to nature, and is an avid hunter. Jame has an ability
to befriend people quickly, and has a strong sense of loyalty and honor.
Jamie has been instrumental in saving many people's lives and limbs
in emergency situations.

I am Jeffrey Allan McQueen. I was born on Good Friday, march 27, 1959
at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. I grew up in
Southfield, Michigan and went to Northbrook Elementary School on 12 Mile
Road. Later I attended Birmey Junior High School, and then later attended
Southfield-Lathrup High School on 12 Mile Road. Before graduation from
high school, I became an Eagle Scout and received a Gold Palm. I graduated
from high school in 1977 and began attending Kalamazoo College in the Fall
of 1977. I graduated from Kalamazoo College with a B.A. - Liberal Arts
Degree in 1981. My major in college was English, but I started out
Pre-Med like most of the students at Kalamazoo College. In 1994 I began
attending Michigan State University (in Troy, Michigan) and graduated from
their MBA program in 1996 with a 3.6 grade point average. At Kalamazoo
I also studied German and French and spent my Junior Year in Munster, Germany
(1979 to 1980). I had also studied German in high school. After
Kalamazoo College I took some Japanese and Spanish language classes through
the University of Detroit. I have worked for and sold to Japanese
companies. I have traveled all over and have been in the following
countries and principalities: Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Holland, German (West
and East), Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Italy, France, Andorra, Ireland,
England, Wales, Scotland, Greece, Monaco, Luxembourg, Japan, Taiwan, South
Korea, China, Hong Kong (May 1996 to May 1997 - just before the handover),
Mexico, Canada, and the Cayman Islands in the British West Indies as of May
1997. My hobbies are family tree research, reading, writing, camping,
hiking, fishing, scuba diving, sailing, photography, and traveling. I
played football and wrestled in high school, soccer in college and like to
play golf.
I married Sheila Irene O'Donnell on July 26, 1998. She was born January 25, 1959 (we went to kindergarten together & grew up together). She has three girls from previous marriage: Katie Windsor Bergner, Erynne O'Donnell Bergner, and Alex Gaye Bergner. Her first husband was Kenneth Windsor Bergner. Shelia and I are expecting a girl on January 17, 1999.

Patrick spent most of his professional career in banking. Rising quickly
up through Manufacturer's Bank of Detroit to Senior Vice President. When
Comerica bought Manufacturer's Pat exercised his "golden parachute," and
worked shortly as a consultant until Michigan Governor John Engler selected
Pat to become the Bank and Insurance Commissioner (Commissioner of the Financial
Institutions Bureau). Pat enjoys the outdoors (hunting, fishing, and
boating).

Cathryn or "Cate" as she is called received her college degree from Kalamzoo
College. Her majors were Math and Psychology. Cathryn was called
"Cathy" until she graduated from high school, and then she asked everyone
to call her "Cate".
Cate excels in creative needlework, hand quilting, and silk ribbon embroidery. Cate also loves to bake and is very adept at creating chocolates. In business Cate also excelled and worked for some time at Ford Motor Company as a contract mechanical engineer. Cate was also a First Class Girl Scout, the highest rank in the Girl Scouts. Cate always did well in school and her grades were always a little better than her brother Jeff's in high school. Cate carried nearly a 4.0 grade point average, out of a possible 4.0. Cate has also always excelled in sales.
