GENEALOGY TIPS & LINKS

Wild Flower Divider

Welcome.
For those of you who are new to genealogy, here are a few tips.

First, ask your family elders what they remember.  Document what they tell you.  Next, try to verify what information you have by looking for birth certificates, death certificates, and family records such as those found in Bibles and scrapbooks.  Look in old newspapers and census records.  Also, look for variations in the spelling of a surname.  Often the spelling changes from generation to generation or even region to region.

Also, when looking for your American Indian ancestors, remember that most tribes don't have individual rolls.  Most rolls were made by the U.S. Government.

Following are links to various genealogy sites that should prove helpful in researching your family history.

Good luck.
