The Ideal Toy Company made the Crissy family of dolls in
the late 1960's through the 1970's. And I just love all 18 inches of them!
(Note: Velvet and Tara are 15 inches tall.) Their hair grows usually to
the length of their knees with a push of a button on their stomach. Conversely,
turn the knob on their back to get the hair to grow back into their heads.
The American Character Doll Company first patented this idea.
Crissy began my vinyl doll collection and they have the
coolest wardrobe this side of "Good Times." Their fashions truly
reflect the Seventies fashion scene which in some cases I will never
understand. But, who could resist fashions with names like Grape Drape,
Lip Smackin' Good, Snuggler and Very Vanilla?
Currently, I have six Crissy family dolls in my collection.
The family breakdown is as follows: Crissy and Velvet are cousins and Cinnamon
is Velvet's little sister. Tressy and Crissy are best friends as are Tara
and Velvet. |
