To mortal eyes, the Carmel Valley/Silver Peak area is ideal for hiking, riding, and getting in touch with nature. While the cities in the region are well developed (with homes of many Artists, who it seems, often charge prices for their works only the rich can afford), the countryside is quite the draw. Perhaps the woods and mountains do not pull in as many as the beaches of Monterey, but often that's to it's advantage. To the Fae, it's always been a bit of a headache, often disputed between the two duchies, the Barony has had more than one battle fought over it. The Viscount Jude thus taxes it lightly. Still, the wonder of the area can't be denied. The enchanted side of this area is wilder than the mortal. Chimera have long seemed more plentiful and untamed here. The Near Dreaming is easily accessible as one wanders. To those of the Dreaming, the mountains are higher, the valleys deeper, and the leaves greener. For a time, this Barony was something of a battle zone in an between Dark Kin, and Kithain. That has, yet again, changed. Those who followed the Black Horned Lord are nearly dead to a man, if any Fir Bholg still live, they even now flee a purge. One forest has been claimed by Kee-Vash of the Fuath, he and his people are known allies of the Duchy, and the woods are theirs. Once merely leader of the Fuath (and defering to the Women's circle as was their way on most matters), those Dark Kin of other Adhene now turn to him as well.

Specific areas of the Wilderlands | |
---|---|
Fuaths' Wood | While other Adhene maybe found here, the Fuath predominate. Strange rituals, and primitive honor are the norm among these dreams of beasts and blood. While feared for their prowess, they are kinder than some realize, provided they are treated with respect. This wood belongs to the Fuath now, even Kithain now honor that for the aid the Wild Adhene gave against the Black Horned Lord. Those seeking to challenge the Fuath claim may have to face face Kee-Vash. |
The Rift | Once hidden, even from most other Dark Kin, is a rath placed in a narrow pass that leads to the Near Dreaming. The Balefire that once crackled here is gone. A Throne of bones lays shattered. The stench of death still lingers. What was a stronghold was turned into a slaughterhouse, as the Wolfsblood took his vengeance. |
The Red Dale | Every war must have it's battle fields, and this place unfortunately was selected by chance (or fate) to be just that. Spoted suburbs mingle with light forests and clearing. For a time, chimeric battles happend in lawns between Dark Kin and Kithain, Fuath, and Fir Bholg, and more. Now, various Adhene that were netrual, Changelings that seek a place with few nobles, hover here, enjoying freedom of a sorts. The mortals here have been scarred it seems, and dreamers of odd flavors now rise. |
The Descent | Close enough to be endangered, a burnt out church has a hidden way to another hold. Unseelie energies crackle here, and one can feel their winter side's chill a bit more. Wanting to kneel to no Seelie noble, this Hold is rumored to have been rescued, and now ruled by an Unseelie one. Whoever the "Holder" is, he is never seen, and never availible. What Jude will make of this challenge is unknown. |
