Introducing the GSP Project The GrandPrixLegends Statistical Analyzer Program (GSP) project has begun!

A Little bit about the project The project begain several years ago with a small COBOL/VisualBasic program with a simple goal in mind - to be able to keep points for a series of individual multiplayer races. The project was a huge personal success and has continued to grow over the years, shifting from NASCAR3 to GPL. In January of 2004 we decided that it was time to retire the VB/COBOL program in exchange for a newer, more flexible, C# program. The program has made much progress since its conception, moving through project and database design, to designing many of the subcomponents and add-on features. The database has been completed and many of the add-on components completed. The user interface has been functional, and has completely replaced the VisualBasic front-end of the old COBOL program. These completed components have been implemented and running error-free for almost a year now. Unfortunately, progress at times can be slow. The project currently consists of two members and a third tester, and life has a way of getting in the way. The program has progressed, and currently (November 2004) most of the sub-components of the program are nearing completion, and have been in beta testing for several months. The main program, the season stat program, is finishing up design and entering early testing. It is still far too early to put a release date on this project, but an early version including the season stat program should be ready within the month, with subsequent patches and expansions expected through the remainder of the year. This project was created by GPL'ers for GPL'ers. We welcome feedback and are working to make this program as useful as it can be for the GPL community. That was its original purpose, to assist in making gpl more enjoyable by having tools to do so. We continue to strive to make new tools and to make the tools we have do more things and do them better. There really is no end in sight for this project so long as we keep inventing and moving forward creatively. But don't worry, we won't hold this tool from the community any longer than needbe. We often release beta versions whenever a signifigant update is made.
