The project aim to establish at UPTC a Regional Environmental Information System (REIS) that can provide basic information needed to advice and guide provincial and local government units, NGOs, POs, academic and other agencies in planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating resource management and sustainable development programs.

Project Site
REIS / UPVTC will focus on Region VIII cooperation with CEIS / UPVCC with focus on Region VII & UPV Miag-ao, Iloilo with focus on Region VI

Project Support
The project is technically & financially supported by DOST and DED until it is accepted as support tool by the users in the region and is generating the money needed for the full time staff, cost and maintenance.

Background of the Project
In 1996, PPDO Cebu, UPVCC & NGOs, assisted by DED started to cooperate in establishing the Coastal Environmental Information System (CEIS) in the office of PPDO Cebu.

This CEIS contains bio-physical, socio-economic and infrastructure data about the land and marine ecosystem of Cebu.
During the last two years it became evident that UPV could offer an excellent environment for the continuation and expansion of the CEIS.

To continue and expand the CEIS of Region VIII a new Regional Environmental Information System (REIS) has been established at UPV Tacloban College for Region VIII
