I belong to the Stephen King book club - that's how bad it is.... It's not the gruesome stuff that attracts me as much as his writing skills. I feel more like I've met his characters, like I'm reading true stories - I can actually picture the people he describes. And he has a great way of breaking the tension at just the right moment with something hysterically funny! He references "The Lord of the Rings" in EVERY book (wondered often if he realizes that!), so I know he's a fan too (also wonder if he loved the movies as much as I did!). This "Dark Tower" series reminds me of "Lord of the Rings" in a lot of ways. There are 6 books so far, with the final one coming soon.
I read "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings" to my daughters TWICE when they were little, so there was a great deal of excitement about the recently released trilogy, and we were NOT disappointed, thank goodness. What a wonderful bunch of creatures! What a range of emotions! What a great good-vs-evil story! I recommend it to anyone, regardless of age!Deepak Chopra writes a lot of self-discovery self-healing things, so I was delighted by this fantasy-dragons-knights change from him. Just a fun story, but his touchy-feely stuff is great too!
