Fetch Help PageFetch, written by Jim Matthews, is the best FTP client program available today for Macintosh OS, and is free for educational and non-profit home users (shareware for other users). The latest version is 3.0.3, and can be downloaded by clicking here. Note: Fetch is shareware. That means that if you do not meet the stated requirements for free use as stated by the Dartmouth Software Fetch License, you must pay to register the software in order to continue using it after a reasonable trial period. The AnswerPoint is not associated with Dartmouth Software or Fetch, and does not make any money off this software - I simply recommend it here as a tool available for Macintosh users at GeoCities. Special thanks to Bill Dailey, another former WestHollywood Community Leader, for preparing this very helpful page. Setting Up FetchGeoCities has updated their FTP procedures now, so you don't need to do anything special to upload files to the server any more! (Loud Applause!) For the official GeoCities info on FTP, check the new and improved GeoCities FTP setup guidelines. Follow me down for more detailed info, in what I think is little easier to understand language (and illustrations).
Uploading Files Using Fetch
Use standard folder navigation techniques to find the files you want to upload. Add
them to the list of files to upload by double-clicking on them, you by highlighting them
and clicking on the 'add' button. Once you have added all the files you want to upload to
the list, click on Done. This window will now appear and let you monitor the transfer. Once it finishes
uploading the files, you can choose 'Quit' from the File menu to exit Fetch. That's It!
Your files should appear in your GeoCities directory within 20 minutes
